I did it. I bought a Mac. I can hardly believe it! After a lot of thought and consideration, I decided I wanted my next laptop to be a MacBook Pro. And so it is. I’m typing away, admiring the beauty of the 15″ screen. Oooh, it’s so lovely and crisp!

I’ve never owned a Mac before. I’m a bit lost without my right mouse button. But it’s a truly beautiful piece of gadgetry. It’s so pretty and well designed. I’m still poking around, figuring out how to do things with this new operating system. But hey, it can’t be tougher than a PC, can it?

My brother recently got a Mac as well, and he’s pointed me at a few starting apps to get me going. I’m writing this post with a program called ecto, it let’s me blog from my desktop. It’s pretty nifty. Who knows what else I might find?

Anyone out there have any suggestions for a newbie Mac user?

It must be that time of year. A few weeks ago, Grandboss actually signed off on the purchase order for my dream workstation. Ubuntu Linux on a 21″ LCD dual core Xeon… Wow, look at me being all fanboy for gadgetry! How 1995 of me.
Anyway, dig the new Mac. I love ‘em.
Not many serious Mac users tolerate Apple’s one button hockey puck fascism. This thing is terrific:

I’d give you my unused one, if you should soon be in the neighborhood of London. Heh.

Congrats! How’s the dev experience? Have you hacked any code on it? I’m interested in how the native UNIX experience modern libraries thing feels. Every time I hack Linux, I feel like my beard should be a foot longer.

And, of course, I have to ask… how does WoW play on it? And are you running it native on the Mac side, or with BootCamp and in PC-mode? Gaming-obsessed minds want to know :-)

I weep for you.

Really, I like that Macs have made computing fashionable and simple, but part of me also really dislikes that as well. Plus there still seems a large lack of software for them in comparison.

Still, given that I mostly only use my computer for Web, e-mail, and WoW anymore, they might not be a bad option. ;)

I haven’t really done anything all that exciting yet. No BootCamp yet, even. I’m just playing around with it, getting the hang of this Mac thing. And playing WoW.

And I’m not really a switcher. :) I still have my PC desktop, of course.
