Whoa. So the WB and UPN are pretty much the red-headed stepchildren of network television. Shows that are considered big hits for them would be swiftly removed from the air on the big four. Well, it looks like they’ve decided to merge their fortunes and become one uber-loser network! Ok, ok, maybe it won’t be that bad. The new network is going to be called CW. And that’s all I know, since I’ve only been able to find one article with the news so far. There’s a couple of posts over at TV Squad, but it seems we’re all getting our info from Yahoo.

I don’t know if I’ve really ever watched UPN, except those last two seasons of Buffy. But I definitely watch the WB - Gilmore Girls is one of my favorite shows. From the press release, it sounds like the plan is just to merge their schedules and keep the best shows from both networks. So I’m sure I’ll continue to enjoy Gilmore Girls, just at a new home.

This fall, it looks like my TiVo scheduling will become just a tad bit simpler as I won’t have as many darn channels to worry about!

I used to watch UPN when Star Trek DS 9 and Star Trek TNG were on there. And Buffy. And I only tuned into the WB for Buffy and Angel.

Yeah, they’ve always had the late night repeats of shows going for them. There’s definitely some shows I watch on the WB, so I’m glad to know it’s not going completely away. I wonder what this means for local affiliate stations, though. One less nightly newscast and stuff…
