One of my annoyances about the iPhone was that despite carefully entering many birthdays into my address book on my Mac, those birthdays weren’t showing up on the calendar on my iPhone. Turns out it was user error, not lack of a feature! A more Mac-savvy friend of mine pointed out that I had to actually turn on the birthday calendar in iCal.

iCal options

I checked the little “Show Birthdays calendar” box, re-synced my iPhone and now all the birthdays are showing up on my calendar. Thank you Apple! Yet another awesome convenience, ready to go. I guess I’m a fan-girl now. How did this happen?

I’ve had some trouble with this when I add a birthday on my iphone address book it won’t come up in the calendar view even after syncing. Anyone else having this problem?

Hi, I look to have the same problem. I can’t see the birtday calendar on my iphone. Can saw them on mobile web web base and on Ical.

Weird. I use entourage and exchange service too, so maybe the problem came from there..

Thanks!

i have iMac, 2 iPhones, MobileMe acct. I see Bday’s on iCal but not on either iPhone. My settings look like the above example (except checked MoblieMe sync bottom option) but still no Bdays. You’d think if you shell out $100/yr for the whole experience (MobileMe) you’d get the whole experience (Bdays & Holidays). Even lowly Microsoft’s Outlook & ugh Palm Desktop do that!

Yes, I have this same problem. I can’t get the birthdays to show up on the iphone calendar which is ridiculous.

Secondly, if someone sends you an sms with a number to use you can’t dial that number, or even forward sms’es am i doing something wrong here???
