Walking again

Friday, May 16th, 2008

It’s that time again, and I’ve signed up to walk in AIDS Walk San Francisco. Last year I managed to raise over $600! Thank you everyone who helped contribute. This year I’m hoping to break $1000 so go on over to my donation page and help me out!

If you’re in the area and want to walk with my team, Let the Wookiees walk, send me an email and help us out! For more info on the AIDS Walk and where your money is going, check out the official website.

Check out my pictures from last year’s walk over on my flickr stream. Here’s one to give you a taste!

Pardon the dust

Sorry for the mess, I’m having some technical difficulties on the blog. Upgraded to the new version of Wordpress and K2 and things have been going very wrong. I think it should stay up now, found the worst of my woes, but it still doesn’t look pretty and there might be some empty links. Thanks for your patience, it’ll be back to normal soon!

GTA Invades My Home

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

I was walking home from the grocery today and was treated to this sight:

Ok, this was on my street. Yes, I live in a city, but it’s not like I live in a crazy city-esque part of the city. I mean, come on, this is what my street looks like:

Having those billboards up there was just a bit shocking. I’m not really a GTA fan. I played a little of GTA3 and was impressed by it conceptually but didn’t really find it fun to play. I have no intention of buying the new GTA, mostly because it just isn’t my kind of thing, not out of a sense of moral outrage or anything. But this just kinda bothered me. That woman on the billboard… ugh. I feel like this kind of thing gives the games industry a bad name - and I don’t mean the game, I mean the advertising. It’s good to make it clear what the game is about and what it contains, which that image does. But I don’t need it hanging outside my bedroom window.
