Last.fm woes

Friday, December 30th, 2005

For those who missed it, last.fm is a music site that builds a radio station based on what you’ve listened to in the past. I love it because once you install their plugin, it tracks everything you listen to. Yes, that’s why I love it! Because then I get to look at the lovely charts of what I’m listening to. Anyways, they’ve been suffering some technical difficulties in the past, and I just clicked over to their site and saw this, which is a pretty funny message:

We are in fact the least lucky web site on the internet. We’ve suffered some database issues; please bear with us while we try to piece everything back together. Again.

Tell Them About The Audioscrobbler, Mummy

I just thought I’d share my hopes that they resolve their difficulties soon so I can continue to enjoy viewing charts of my music viewing habits.

Meet Aynaka, the Undead Mage

Thursday, December 29th, 2005

I’m currently enjoying some time off from work. In addition to seeing friends and family, I decided, hey, four characters isn’t enough, I’m going to start a new one. Meet Aynaka. Here she is, in her infancy. She’s a mage, and yes, she is decked out with that best of magely weapons, a broom.

Last Looks at WoW Holiday

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

I couldn’t resist posting just a few more pictures of the holiday decorations that are up in World of Warcraft. These are some shots from around Iron Forge of various trees and lights. I like the fun festival stuff!

A tree!

Another tree!

Wow, still a tree!

Not a tree!

Goodbye holiday season…

Holiday Hiatus

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

The holidays are almost here, and I’ll be visiting friends and family. Might not have too much computer time, so there may not be many posts until the new year. I should be able to scrounge something up here and there, but just wanted to let you know I’ll be back with more gaming goodness soon!

Dark Iron Rapscallion Drama

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

I’ve mentioned a few times that the reason I started up a priest on the World of Warcraft server Dark Iron was because I read about it on Penny Arcade. The guys from PA have several Alliance guilds on the server and frequently engage in large scale conflicts with some Horde guilds championed by the comic PvP Online. Apparently Ctrl+Alt+Del (CAD) was also engaged in this battle, with a guild called the Rapscallions.

I like to read my web comics, laugh at the jokes and not engage in too much thought about the people behind the product. I like to think that these guys are all cool, funny and worth supporting with my reads and my money, when I choose to buy an actual paper product from them. Turns out that’s not true.

There doesn’t seem to be a complete account of what happened, but apparently the CAD author, Tim Buckley, recently decided to quit playing WoW. He handed over leadership of his guild to another player and that should have been that. But then it seems people were trying to draw him into some of the politics and drama of guild mess by sending him some emails. Instead of responding in a rational fashion, it seems he got drunk, logged on to the game and kicked everyone out of the guild. He deleted the guild’s forum too. There are a whole lot of very upset people talking about it on the forums.
